This is the time of the year where future brides just recently become engaged and realizing that they only have a year to plan. I stress please plan a year ahead as the longer you wait, the process will begin to frustrate you.
As a bridal consultant, I come across many brides who constantly look for a dream gown or their favorite designer. Future brides, if you ready to start the journey of finding your dream dress, I am suggesting attending a trunk show. What is a trunk show?
A trunk show is an event in which a designer present their merchandise directly to store’s personal customers at a retail location or another venue such as a hotel room. In many cases it allows brides to preview and/or purchase merchandise before it is made available to the public. Typically, clients view the merchandise, place orders, and then wait for the vendor to manufacture and deliver the goods.
Here are some tips….
- Begin by browsing designer websites to get a sense of which styles appeal to you and fall within your budget.
- Though trunk shows take place throughout the year, you’ll have the widest selection of designers from January–March when these events are more numerous.
- Bring one or two people with you whom you trust and who know you well. Resist the urge to have a larger entourage accompany you—too many opinions can get confusing.
- Be prepared to make a purchase in case you find “the dress” in order to take advantage of possible show discounts. But don’t feel pressured to make a decision if you aren’t 100% convinced.
